The Saint Hotel New Orleans Makes 2012 Hot List

-

The Saint Hotel was selected as one of only 12 U.S. properties on the list of 121.

Of the thousands of new properties that opened in the last year, the award-winning publication’s editors visited 172 properties in 49 countries, evaluating each on a set of criteria including service, food, atmosphere and amenities. From Zambia to China to New Orleans, the list includes a vast array of exciting worldwide destinations, 49 of which offer rooms for less than $300 per night.

In addition to The Saint Hotel, the list includes some of the country’s premier properties such as Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, Public in Chicago, Hotel Americano in New York, and also in New Orleans, Hotel Modern.

On Tuesday, April 17, 2012, Lisa Gill, Senior Editor for Conde Nast Traveler presented the publication’s 2012 Hot List on The Today Show. Of the 12 U.S. properties on the list, The Saint Hotel was selected as one of the five properties featured on the national television program.

After a more than $45 million dollar purchase and transformation, The Saint Hotel provides the ultimate in luxury lifestyle destination, whether traveling for business or pleasure. The hotel offers guests a new and contemporary feel, while still capturing the sparkling charm and romance of New Orleans.

Each of The Saint’s 166 guest rooms offers a tranquil and casual opulence that soothe and stimulate the senses. The sleek and modern, yet cozy, rooms let guests indulge in the finest amenities such as luxurious Egyptian cotton linens, complimentary in-room WiFi, and lavish Niven Morgan signature bath products.

The 8-story Saint Hotel is home to the live jazz venue, Burgundy Bar. The Chicago Speakeasy style lounge pays tribute to the music of Louis Armstrong, featuring live music several nights a week. The sixty-seat Burgundy Bar features deep burgundy walls, stunning burgundy Venetian glass chandeliers and deep red banquettes, all providing the space with a fun, bordello chic ambiance.

Chosen for its unique atmosphere, The Saint Hotel is proud to be New Orleans’ first and only member of Marriott’s prestigious portfolio of Autograph Collection Hotels. Autograph Collection is an evolving ensemble of strikingly independent luxury hotels, selected for their bold originality, rich character, and uncommon details.

HOTEL FEATURES
The specs: A 166-room, $45-million renovation of the century-old Audubon Building, in the northwest corner of the French Quarter close to the Superdome.

The look: A bright medley of old and new. The Burgundy Bar is a study in bordello chic, with deep-red banquettes and Venetian plaster walls; the restaurant is bathed in white. Hand-painted murals of old New Orleans decorate the eight-story stairwell; minimalist modern guest rooms are plain but comfortable, with indigo ceilings and white-lacquered furniture.

The experience: A rather seedy section of Canal Street brings you to an entrance illuminated by antique Bevelo gas lanterns; inside, a series of floor-to-ceiling white curtains billow in the lobby, and the strains of live jazz emanate from the bar, where you're likely to find a mix of business travelers, tourists, and local jazz aficionados. Across the lobby, Sweet Olive, sister to chef Michael Stoltzfus's locally beloved Coquette, specializes in updated regional classics. After dinner, the rooftop lounge beckons with plush seating and panoramic views of the downtown skyline.
